Haverford Youth Wrestling (HYW) is a non-profit charity, youth (all gender) wrestling organization, run by volunteers, dedicated to teaching the sport of wrestling to children from Kindergarten through 8th grade.
The Haverford Youth Wrestling Club (HYW) was established in the late 1980’s (formerly Haverford Township Wrestling Association) as a township recreational club. We were one of the original 14 teams that formed the Inter-County Wrestling League.
Our organization has produced several wrestlers that have won tournaments and championships over the years and have graduated wrestlers to the Haverford Middle School and High School programs. Many of our former participants have gone on to place and win at the PIAA level.
The Haverford Youth Wrestling Club is a member in the Inter County Wrestling League (ICWL). The ICWL is a competitive and organized league of Southeastern Pennsylvania that includes local teams such as Marple Tigers, Drexel Hill Raiders, Springfield AA, Media Youth, Lower Merion, Aston Bandits, Ridley Raiders, and many others. We are a Chartered Club with USA Wrestling.
There are approximately 45 teams in the ICWL, with the most recent additions of clubs from Quakertown and Chester. The ICWL is one of the largest youth wrestling leagues in the country.
All matches in the ICWL are set up based on wrestlers age, weight, experience, and skill level. This makes the matches fair and allows kids to learn and grow at a pace that fits them.
